One place to visit that is on the way to the home from the East is Whippoorwill Village, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Whippoorwill-Academy/219350326841. You will also pass by the Leatherwood resort https://www.facebook.com/leatherwood.mountains?fref=ts which allows visitors to ride their own horse or ride one of theirs and/or to attend their activities. They sponsor some 50 and 100k runs several times a year.
There many places to fish or fly fish, within minutes of the home. With the home being so centrally located, it makes it super easy to hit all the attractions like Linville Falls, Boone and Blowing Rock. The App Ski mountain is just 13.5 miles from the home and the parkway just 7 miles. This is a place where weather doesn’t matter. There is lots to do at the home, you can even sit outside on one of the swings on the wraparound porch and watch the weather.
You can hike around the property, which is something I really enjoyed, but you need good hiking boots. It may be overgrown, but still a delight to see, smell and experience the woods, pines and critters as you pass by. A place to commune with nature.
Everyone who walks into the home falls in love with it. All the children and adults, love the basement. With the pool table, foosball and dart board, you can never be bored. It is really a place to go to get away from it all. I know that’s what they all say, but at this home, it is so quiet, you forget everything else. We have very little traffic. Plus, even at 2200 feet, you feel like you can reach up and touch the stars.
